1 Samuel 26 - David Spares Saul Again

  1. The story sounds similar to David and Saul in the cave.
  2. Abishai reads David having an opportunity over Saul as divine appointment, exactly as David's men did in the cave (v. 8; cf. 24:4).
  3. David uses the objects he took from Saul to rebuke Abner for failing to protect Saul, and to prove to Saul David’s loyalty (vv. 1421).
  4. David reminds them that the LORD renders to every man his righteousness and faithfulness (vv. 2324).
  5. Saul blesses David and predicts his success (v. 25), then they each go their own way.
