2 Corinthians 4 - The Gospel Renews the Man

  1. Paul has been establishing his credibility and sincerity so far in 2 Corinthians
    1. Paul now widens the scope of his argument from specifics about himself, to the general message of the gospel he preaches
    2. The false apostles Paul has been pitted against have not been changed by the power of God (v. 2\)
    3. The message of the gospel is veiled to those who are blind by unbelief and perishing in their sin, while those who would proclaim it truly are those who are changed inwardly (vv. 3-4)
      1. Paul has suffered on account of Christ (vv. 8-9)
      2. Paul carries with him the death of Christ, so that the life of Christ may be manifested in him (vv. 10-11)
      3. Paul's ministry is so that God's grace may extend to many, all to the glory of God (v. 15\)
  2. This does not only apply to Paul, but to all who would believe the gospel
    1. Those who believe are renewed by the gospel (v. 16\)
    2. Those who believer are prepared by Christ, for greater glory, in an eternal reality yet unseen (v. 18\)
