- (v. 6:3) No fault can be found with Paul's ministry, because
- Of the afflictions he has borne for Christ
- Of the peace and joy he has in Christ, despite his frequent condition
- (v. 6:8) Through honor and dishonor
- (v. 6:10) Sorrowful and poor, yet rejoicing and rich
- (v. 6:14) So the church should be careful to not associate with unbelievers, including the false apostles
- This exhortation from Paul is not to say we go "no contact" with those who are unregenerate, but that we not be "yoked" with them, as to not engage in worship with them and to not hold them as close as we would the church
- In particular, this is to plead with the Corinthians to cease their idolatry in the consumption of food sacrificed to idols (1 Corinthians 8, 10), for this is participation in their worship
- (v. 7:1) We are to maintain the purity of the church body, based on what Paul has been declaring to us about what make him trustworthy
- He is trustworthy because of the proclamation of the true gospel of Christ
- He is trustworthy because his experience as an apostle is found with great suffering on his part, with a spirit-filled understanding of his true state amidst those sufferings
